Coming out to my choir

Choir is a huge part of my life. It means so much to me, so I was terrified at the prospect of coming out to my choir friends in case they rejected or hated me for it.

One night, after a particularly well-done concert, I was at a sleepover with about 15 people from my choir. We were talking about things we just wanted to get off our chests, and so I decided that it would be the perfect moment to come out. It went a little something like this:

Me: So, um, I’m… pansexual.

Friend 1: I’m bi.

Friend 2: Me too.

Friend 3: So am I.

Friend 4: I’m a huge, raging lesbian.

Friend 5: Pans are f*cking hot.

Just one of the reasons why I love my choir.
