I Crashed the Car
So I’m pretty open about my sexuality ever since I was outed by my friends in secondary school when they read some texts between me and a girl I was seeing at the time. I won’t shove the fact down anyone’s throat, but if they ask or a subject comes up to do with it, I’ll tell pretty much whoever that I’m bi. Telling my parents on the other hand was a little difficult ‘cause parents are hard to predict.
But opportunity struck when, within 3 weeks of passing my test, I backed the car into a fence and dented it. I would’ve preferred like a pregnancy scare or something to distract them but whatever.
So I slipped onto the couch next to them when they were watching TV a couple of days later and told them that I broke the car. They went off on one and had me explain how it’d happened and whatnot as parents do. As the argument came to an end with them being happy with me telling them and talking about sorting it out, I just came out with the fact I’d been going out with a girl for two years. Quick off the mark their response was “you think we’re surprised?” There was some smiling all round and since then all has been pretty normal.
The best thing out of it? Coming out kinda took the heat off of me for breaking the car.
